Project Lifecycle Guide

This web site is your starting point to use Barts BioResource (BBR) data in your research. The table below outlines the steps involved in the process...

Registration Use the Registration form to gain a user id and the Profile Review form to upload your CV and other details. Your CV will be reviewed by the BBR management committee and you will be notified by email whether your registration has been accepted and access can be granted to the Cohort Assessment tool. Please note that there is an annual charge associated with this facility which will need to be paid before access is granted.
Cohort Assessment (CA) You can use the CA tool to build up to 20 distinct queries over the BBR CDR. Each query can be used to specify the extent of the data required as well as the conditional logic used to filter the data. You will use one of these queries as part of your research project application below.
Apply for a Research Project Having satified yourself that the BBR has sufficient data to meet your research needs, you can apply to open a new research project. Each project must meet ethical and professional guidelines assessed via peer review and will involve you accepting and signing Data Transfer and other Information Governance agreements.
Project Acceptance If your application is successful (and you have paid the project fee), the project data, including any images associated with that data, will be copied to a dedicated area which you will be able to access through a secure workstation environment. The project fees will comprise a one off charge for the data extraction and storage together with recurring charges for the workstation environment(s) to be used by you and any associates granted access to the project.
